Back in 1990, Croote was involved with the law, but this time as a victim. His father Michael, a soldier stationed in Georgia, shot and killed Adam's mother Wendy, who was six months pregnant. After a custody battle between his grandparents, Croote's maternal grandparents kidnapped him, changed his name and moved to Kansas.
UPDATE -- 23-year-old Adam Croote has been in trouble with the law before. In 2005, he was convicted of a sexual offense in Massachusetts, leading to his registration as a sex offender.
