HESPERIA • A Hesperia man who sheriff’s homicide investigators believe shot his 4-year-old son and then himself near Silverwood Lake has died, officials said Wednesday.
The father of Jesus Roman Fuentes Jr. said his son showed no signs that he could commit such an act. Fuentes was smart, educated and had his whole life ahead of him, Dr. Jesus Fuentes said in a brief phone conversation on Wednesday.
“I didn’t even see it coming,” Dr. Jesus Fuentes said. “Maybe something just snapped. I’m not a psychologist. I can’t understand what happened.”
Jesus Roman Fuentes Jr., 34, died of his injuries on Tuesday, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials. He had been flown to Loma Linda University Medical Center after California Highway Patrol officers found him and his son, Jesus Gabriel Fuentes, inside a silver Honda just north of the entrance to Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area.
