A Vancouver man is in police custody this morning after allegedly assaulting his father Thursday night.
Vancouver Police say officers were called to a family disturbance in the 4400-block of Bass Street shortly before 11 p.m. Witnesses reported that 34-year-old William Travis Nua had struggled with his father, choking him and attempting to stab him before fleeing in his Dodge Durango.
A K-9 officer soon spotted the vehicle. During a pursuit, the truck crashed at the State Road 14 westbound off-ramp at Leiser. Officers found a knife in the vehicle after Nua was taken into custody.
Nua was taken to an area hospital to be checked for injuries, after which he faced booking into Clark County Jail on suspicion of second-degree domestic violence assault.
Drugs and/or alcohol were likely a factor in the incident, said police spokeswoman Missy Ross.
